A day in my life at Basecamp by Xior Malmö

My name is Alexandra and I’m a basebuddy at Malmö Basecamp! I’m a university student studying my bachelor’s degree in international relations and I am from Greece, but have lived in Stockholm for 13 years.

My schedule is quite busy everyday as I try to study a lot, eat healthily, socialise, exercise and have time for my extracurricular activities. Luckily I have everything that I need very close by – the gym, my friends and classmates living in the same building, being able to walk to my classes, and it has made my everyday life much easier.

What you need to know

FAQs

What is the contract length?
Basecamp contracts are open, unlimited contracts that run for the duration of your education or unless terminated by either party (a 3-months notice period must be observed).
What documents do I need?
1. A copy of your passport (or local ID card for EU nationals) and
2. A university acceptance letter or copy of the student card if you are already studying.
When can I move in?
We are ready to welcome you on the first day of tenancy (if the contract date falls on a weekend or Publich holiday it will be the weekday after this) during our office hours. Additional information and keys will be handed out by the reception.
What do I have to bring?
You need to supply your bedding and towels, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Our team can help you look for the best deals and offer advice on where to find everything you might need. You can buy a bed set through basecamp, contact the managers for more information.
What about noise?
All Basecampers are requested to be respectful of other Basecampers. Noise levels should be kept to a minimum during the hours posted at the property.
What is the process for moving out?
If you wish to terminate your tenancy we kindly ask you to perform this action in the student portal. Please note that the termination period is 3 whole calender months. Once we have received your termination notice, we will confirm the end date of your tenancy. You are required to cover the payment of your rent until the end of your tenancy. In the beginning of the move out month you will receive instructions on how to book a move out inspection as well as what state we require that you leave your apartment in. This inspection will be held together with you to check the condition of the apartment and its furniture. Both parties will sign a checkout form. Depending on the checkout form, the next steps may include repairs and refurbishment, or the return of the deposit at the end of the tenancy agreement.

Kungsparken

The oldest park in the city, Kungsparken is home to 130 species of trees from three continents. Delve deeper to discover a stunning cast iron fountain, an old cave and even a casino.

HSB Turning Torso

A neo-futurist residential tower, the Turning Torso is the first twisted skyscraper in the world. You can’t go inside but you don’t need to to appreciate this incredible feat of engineering.

St. Petri (St. Peter’s Church).

An imposing brick gothic exterior that belies the beauty inside this 700-year old church, which is brimming with ancient artefacts and a lovingly restored church organ.
